Doing Your Own Wedding Music

If you’re planning a wedding on a lighter budget, why not try doing the music yourself? Nowadays you have access to so many options for your listening pleasure and at a low cost. Spotify, YouTube DJ, iTunes, they’re all good listening apps, just sign up, create a playlist of all your favourite songs, go to the settings and set the crossfade between songs to your preference (so the songs change seamlessly) and your away, hit play, click shuffle if you have a few songs from the same artists and don’t want to hear them one after the other, or maybe you do, in that case don’t click shuffle.

What if I don’t have a good sound system?

It's easy to hire a microphone some speakers and maybe a subwoofer (it’s always better with a subwoofer, you get a much fuller sound). Call around or surf the internet for the various sound and lighting businesses in your region and get some quotes. Usually they’ll show you how to set up their sound systems and they’ll make it as easy as possible, because they don’t want you breaking their equipment (which you’ll be financially responsible for), there could be a bond fee with this option too, and if something goes wrong you’re usually on your own, unless you have someone tech savvy to get you back on to safe ground. I have not yet come across a business that has a troubleshooting guide, usually it involves a phone call rescue or the expensive call out, then there’s another problem if you have no cell reception to call for help.

What if I told you there was another option? Your Sound And Lighting will come to where ever your wedding is and take care of setting the equipment up and packing it down at the end of the night for you, they’ll even operate the system if you want, they’ll have the wireless microphone ready for those important memorable speeches and keep that awesome playlist you created at dancing volume, or they help you with your playlist if you want too!
